Check vibe now. Never say its been a bad year!

What's with the new year vibe? What is a year? What is this crazy time line that we create with our crazy thoughts? It  really is just another day. However what you think and what you say is your reality and by repeating negativity in thought or words just attracts more of the same to you.
Practice gratitude. Give thanks for the challenges that you go through as they  teach you more than anything else about what you don't want in life. Speak positively of lessons learnt this year and make your intention  for positive change.
Remember the more we practice the better we become.
Happy times always

I knew this would be an attention grabber. It's a full moon this Friday which is a great time to fast. If you only want to know this much then here is the link, enjoy.

What about considering self discipline. Do you know the difference between discipline and self discipline? In a recent class with Gurmukh and her husband they both spoke of the power of self discipline, this been when we are sensitive to what is good for us as a-posed to someone telling us what to do or not to do. Only we as individuals know when something feels right or wrong.

Not only is it a full moon this weekend but the seasons are changing and summer is drawing to and end. That back to school feeling is so deep rooted in us that even when we no longer go to school there is a recognition of a change of clothes and different energy.
Hopefully feeling rested and restored after your holidays it's time to give yourself a sadhana.

This is a sort of day off, but you might not be able to take a day off so it could be a day when you choose to be more conscious of yourself, or perhaps mindful.

The full moon (and new moon) times offer us time to reflect, meditate and start something new. That something new can be as simple as a change in attitude, just to be better. A better person, friend, family member, work colleague. To apply ourselves for the better.

The fasting element doesn't have to be a food fast, it can be thought fast. Detox your mind.
Whatever you need to do, just do it. I again shedding 6lbs worth of toxic thought!

Here is an old article that I did about living with the Luna cycle, it might be old but not as old as the moon.

Good luck and hope to see you in class soon.

I highly recommend the book by  Gurmukh, the 8 human talents.

GOING FOR GOLD - how to achieve your personal best.

Inspired by the Olympians here in London and observing their every practiced move. Noticing  that every time they step out they are relaxed, clam, focused, assured by their constant repetitive practice that will  do their very best to win.

Whatever our level of yoga practice (life) isn't our life mission about striving for gold every day.

With each breath, each thought, each action. Through constant observation and reflection we know see our  improvements.  When we have slipped from our practice which we do from time to time, we might not get  full marks on that day, but we know that we can get better.

Live each day as if your going for gold. Make it your mission.

PUT ON YOUR VENUS GLASSES and see the world differently

THE VENUS EFFECT Are you ready to change? Sometime over the past 24 hours Venus moved in front of the sun and we are now living though what is called the venus transit. This has been a massive excitement for astronomers and astrologers and the little folk like me to take inspiration from the cosmic environment that we live in, be in real or not. The more of us who tune into a positive vibration the better. So what does this mean for us on earth? Well the effects of this rare transit are going to last until 2117 so we have lots of time to get into this vibe but please consider this effect not only for yourself but for the whole world. We can expect to feel more love! Not that love that's full of condition, expectation and control cos as we know that's a western ideal and not the love that I am feeling. We should expect a greater willingness to overcome conflict. Let's start with letting go of what we are clinging on to and let that release flow, in time others will feel our release, but we have to feel it first in ourselves. We can have a greater ability to accept others and to see only the best. Venus specs on, no more angry eyes! And with this a renewal of hope for world peace and security. At some point we are all going to be sick and tired of a world at war and conflict. Thinking on a universal level, if we prod someone through irritation, in thought, word and deed, then this sensation reverberates around our lives and those who are around us going outward to those we don't know gathering momentum until this irritation is massive and causes something unpleasant. This Venus transit offers us the opportunity to reverse this process and change the way we see ourselves, those in our life and those we don't know. So are you ready, venus specs on, smile and pick up on this energy and enjoy.

TIME FOR CHANGE My regular students will know that my classes find there inspiration from the cycles of the moon. Right now we are between a full moon and a new moon and this quality of time is all about release and letting go. A great time for detoxing, be it with diet or how about considering that thought is food. How appetising is a negative thought? Think back to the full moon (last week) and reflect on what was happening in your life then. What were you full of. This week we are leading up to an eclipsing new moon which supports change. New moons are traditional for wishing on, meditating, considering what you need to do next, creating inspiration and most importantly vibrant vital energy to support the changes that are happening. To get the most out of this time THS WEEK is to really think about what are you full of, what or where you need to let go and then start to create a clear space to dream within. If your full of goodness and vitality, hold that space and know this energy is expansive. Use it wisely. If things aren't going so well, start to clear out. Its hard to let go even when we know we have to. Embrace positive change. It's time to create something new. Let life follow your thoughts.

What's hatching for us yoga chic's? What's hatching what's new? What was those new year intentions all about and what's happening now? Easter is all about new life and beginnings. We now have a holiday time to rest, and perhaps reevaluate our new year resolutions and so forth. Which dreams are hatching into real life experiences and what's not taken shoot. What and where in our life do we need to cultivate more love and where are what do we just need to let go. It's a time to give thanks for the life that we have. To show gratitude to those who help us and also for the rewards of our own dedication to becoming a better person. Take time this weekend and especially at the time of the full moon to be mindful of what we are holding in our mind, body and heart. To breath deeply with gratitude and be open to all potential that is around us. Spend time reflecting on your sense of being, remember we are human beings and become less focused on the doing or the action but more conscious of the bing behind the action. Are you just great at doing or are your great being? ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT LIFE FOLLOWS THOUGHT.

Are you a winner in life's lottery?

Are you a winner in life's lottery? I was having a conversation with my friend about dreams and adventures and asked if he did the lottery. Yes was the reply, weekly and for a long time however he had never had a win, not even a tiny one. So I asked if he wanted to win, yes again. I then enquired as to the intention at the point of purchase. Do you think your going to win or think it's an unlikely prospect. It turned out he doesn't buy the ticket in person but does it on line by a weekly direct debit. I was not surprised by the poor result as I observed that there is no connection with the action. There is minimum thought going into the action. It's a half or less than half of a gesture. In life if we are to play to win then we must sure our integrity is right. I suggested with the lottery that my friend buys the ticket in person and repeats the mantra "I am the winner" whilst ticking the boxes. Like meets like. The winnings always go to the winner. Isn't this what we should all do? Repeat I am a winner in our box ticking culture. Why not believe? It's a cosmic spark that gives us life and therefore we are all a winner by making our way to life on planet earth. The law of attraction says that we attract what we are thinking towards us. Doubt, fear and anxiety can be replaced with a positive approach to life. Most of the time we are just walking in the wrong direction or living the wrong way round. It's worth a try, if you are in the lottery of life start playing to win.

Good yoga/bad yoga

When is yoga bad for you? When your not doing it right? When is life bad for you? When your not living it right. How do we know the difference. Well the debate goes in the yoga world that there are a lot of bad teachers out there who aren't qualified. But who taught us to live? Yes ok I can hear you all going "that's such a stupid thing to say" and all the rest. Surely yoga is a tool for living, not just standing on our heads. It's my observation that (and I am a qualified, insured and experienced yoga teacher) everyone learns in different ways and as much as we as teachers and students can work within safe boundaries but we also need to be challenged. It's my thinking and that of the way of karma, that by repeating good actions with self awareness we become established in something good. That could also translate into safe and steady. So let's put this into a practice for living. If we don't know how to get out of something safely should we do it? By By repeating the same good action again and again we become established in something good. The reverse of course is true. If we are going to cause potential harm to ourselves and others by being bloody minded and to do it regardless we will never evolve or become established. We tend to learn from experience and yoga helps us to be aware of our sensitivity to tension, pain and discomfort. As for me as a teacher in reaction to all the  bad press about yoga been dangerous, that's another debate. But some people you just can't tell. But I am always learning.

I have to credit my friend and yoga teacher Carolyn Berry for this. Whilst we were enjoying half term and dog walking sharing our love of yoga. She said "I think that yoga speaks for it's self". Words don't always express what we gain from this practice so why not today just sit quietly and let your yoga practice speak for it's self.

SHARING The heart centre - a meditation for the heart. From osho Ordinary people around the world know that love comes from the heart. To them this is hearsay. Hearts are the images of love in all cultures. We have seven sensory centres in the body, some call these centres chakras, let's just call them centres for now. These are parts of out body that can't be mapped but can be felt. When we really listen and understand our true being, these centres can be stimulated and we feel the benefit in ourselves, again not necessarily the physical body but just how we feel total, as a whole. Like all benefits of meditation and yoga, once understood in ourself they are for sharing. The heart is in our centre, there are three chakras / centres above and below. All these other centres are activated from this one. The third centre, just below the heart creates abundance and by reaching into this third centre (think about your navel) you have begun to overflow with love. This happens in the fourth centre, our heart. The meditator reaches into the heart. As you reach this centre of your being suddenly an explosion of love and compassion and joy and blissfulness arises with such force that it hits the heart and opens it. When you feel this energy your potential to share this love is abundant. You are limitless in all that you can give, overflowing. You have the opportunity to share your love and your joy and your laughter. In sharing, you find that you feel even more full. There is no need to go anywhere or to make any effort. You can enjoy sensuality without possessiveness or attachment, you can give birth to child or a project with an equal sense of creatively fulfilled. Everything around you seems to be coming together now. Enjoy it, ground yourself in it and let the abundance in you overflow.

Feeling the need to connect?

What are you connected to? A time, a person, a place. Sometimes we have a need or a desire to connect with a view to find some sort of stability or assurance. Sometimes we might feel disconcerted especially during times of change, thats because we are doing just that, changing. When our ground is shifting it feels unstable. However if you think about the universal force or energy that is always moving forwards and outwards and we as humans are a life force on this planet within the universe and to be sure we do not fall off this in reality. We are still here, aren't we? It's how we think about change that creates the instability. Instead of being change itself. Therefore we have to reinforce our beliefs that we are steady, we can move and be flexible and should always explore our range of emotional reactions as well as our physical reactions. What are we holding on to? Can you hold the space that your right now and create clam and steadiness within with a view to sustainable energy to support you being you? Meditation for the day I connect with my heart to the universal spirit of energy and dimension. I am connected and in the right place now doing what is right. I am open to new opportunity, I have created this here and now through my own thoughts. I give thanks for all that have in my life and don't stress about what I haven't got. I enjoy all I that I have in my life.

What's new with you?

What's new with you? February is the last haul of winter, our days are getting longer and we can begin wake up to the potential of spring. Coming out of hibernation and with shoots of inspiration let's start the process of potential personal expansion. Instead of the usual greeting of, "hi, how are you"? How about asking "what's new with you"? Ask yourself the same question today. We have had two new year celebrations and a new moon and the start of a new Luna cycle, have you tapped into the possibility of change yet? Change is going on all around us all the time. It is often unsettling even when we know it's good for us. We can feel vulnerable and anxious or elated and excited. Positive change though brings freedom from past doubt, liberation and empowerment. Are you sailing round the same pond or sailing uncharted waters? Don't bring fear or doubt into your heart or mind. Breath deeply, smile, and stretch yourself. Have a look at this link, a very inspiring take on this new year of the dragon. It will give you hope. Visions you’ve been holding deep within your heart, such as experiencing loving community, lasting peace, spiritual illumination, and restoration of Mother Earth become potently activated and, like magic, could manifest ‘right before your eyes.’the-water-dragon/

Is your right now right? We are told to live in the here and now. Past events create our future experiences. But what about right now? Are you doing your best at doing what is right for you. To be the friend, lover, parent, employee, employer? More importantly are you being yourself? Because if you can't be yourself who can you be? Keep this question at the front of your mind. Is your right now, right? Yoga Workshop for setting new year intentions 28th January 2-5.00 at south Wimbledon community association. £20 booking essential

There is no such thing as 'back to Normal'

After wishing everyone a happy new year and making resolutions and welcoming the new year in why do we so want to be back to normal? Haven't we just resolved to change something? Why go back? And what is normal? Who wants same old, same old? We can't change overnight but we can try to be better. To look ahead and know where your going helps. Some people only use google maps, some of us navigate through intuition. Some people have a guide, some of us just trust. Why not just try harder to reach further. Be the best that you can be then just push your boundaries a little bit more. Don't let doubt or fear cloud your judgement. Be clear and honest with yourself. Observe your journey, the clues to where your going are there.

Another day, another soaking!

Another day, another soaking! It's kind of hard to be all hung ho about the new year when your first foot into this year is soaking wet after been blown and battered and dripping wet into your first appointment of the year. Oh joy soggy feet for the day. Where have those good intentions gone? Nothing grows in dampness, we need to cultivate the right atmosphere within ourselves in order to grow and develop. Don't give up on new year resolutions just practice patience. As it is with our yoga practice, repetition is part of the process. Learn to become this new self. Practice being your new self. The results of your good work start to show when the snow drops beginning to shoot into the first times of spring, towards the end of January. It's a time to remind ourselves of our new year intentions and then cultivate these thoughts up to Easter time when we have a new season and nature helps us to sustain our new year resolutions.
