Seek to Change, Seek to be

The practice of yoga gives us the opportunity to find a quiet place in which to cultivate peace and tranqulity. It also offers and chance to stretch and awaken ourselves. For those of us who already have a practice we appriciate how improtant it is for us to get on our mats and re connect to our vital flow of energy and to feel this either on a daily, weekly or whenever we need it basis. Understanding oursleves leads to greater clarity over all aspects of our lives and being.
BREATH – EXHALE and LET GO, be a better self.
New year classes start from the 6th January 2014.
Drop in £15 – 10 weeks £95 from 01/01/14

The time on our yoga mats is like being put  on hold. It's  a sacred space of time to cultivate a sense of being. It's a pause for ourselves where we can just be. Like the pause between each breath, we are in a space of change. The mat can be also a holding bay, like a parcel on a shelf waiting to be delivered. Can we be this still and patient, yet in the stillness we are always moving. The quality of energy that we are working with can feel as if we are in a mirco climate, both tropical  storms and intense heat will challenge our senses and make it hard to be peaceful. Yet it's the circumstances of our inner environment that create both the desire to change and the natural process that is taking place.

We can either trust that we are in a universal holding space or cultivate trust in ourselves to know when it's the right time to move and when it's right to hold.

After a long time off practice due to my moving home I have spent a few days with my beautiful Swami Pragyamurti. I thought I would share this lovely quote from her yoga manual for prisoners and other castaways.

Love and serve all humanity. Help everyone. Be happy. Be courteous. Be a dynamo of irrepressible joy. Recognise God and goodness in every face. There is no saint without a past or a sinner without a future. Praise everyone. If you cannot praise someone, let them out of your life. Be original. Be inventive. Be courageous. Take courage again and again. Do not imitate. Be strong. Be upright. Think with your own head. Be yourself. Do not lean on the crutches of others. All perfection and every divine virtue are hidden within you - reveal them to the world. Wisdom too is already within you - let it strike forth. Let the lords grace make you free. Let your life be that of the rose - in silence it speaks the silence of fragrance.
